FIBRE FALLOUT RETREAT

Hello,

I am the chair of the North Country Spinners FIBRE FALLOUT 2006 Retreat which will be taking place the weekend of September 29, 30 and October 1, 2006. 

North Country Spinners is a guild in northwestern NJ.  The guild hosts this retreat every 2 years.  This will be our 4th one.  We are wondering if there is a way to be posted to your Happenings page on your web site. 

If that is possible our retreat is FIBRE FALLOUT 2006" and the guild web site is   www.northcountryspinners.org  and the "Guild Retreat" tab brings you to our retreat info.

We have several well known fiber artists scheduled to teach our workshops.  We have Rita Buchanan, Lily Chin, Sharon Costello, Elisa Kessler Caporale, Annie Modesitt and Catherine Marchant. 

If you can possibly list us it would be greatly appreciated.  The committee did not know if this is possible but thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

Springwater Fiber Workshop, in Old Town Alexandria, is seeking an experienced full time Director. Ideal candidate will have solid experience managing daily business operations with a strong emphasis on finances and grant applications. Ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of Quickbooks, Microsoft Office, Web oversight and general administration.  Salary commensurate with experience. INVENTORY TIME

If you have time to help us with our annual, tradition laden "taking of the inventory" ritual, please call John at 703-549-3634.  The dates are: June 19 - 30. Two hours minimum during store hours would be appreciated.

The Advocacy Project

Earlier this spring, several of us from Springwater met with representatives from The Advocacy Project to discuss their work with Bosfam, a women's organization operating a weaving center in Srebrenica, Eastern Bosnia.  To read a description of this work, please visit www.advocacynet.org. Click on "Our Work."  Then, from the "Projects" column on the left of the computer screen, select "Weavers of Bosfam" for a program description and "2006 Intern: Bosfam" to read intern Yvette Barnes' blog.

Information found under "Weavers" also describes a public presentation and display, June 27, Georgetown University. Yvette hopes to have an opportunity to describe her work and the work of Bosfam to a Springwater audience when she returns.

Join our lively fiber arts community! Springwater has a part time (20-30 hours per week) position available for someone with a working knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office; knowledge of POS systems a plus!

Duties include: bill paying and payroll, tax reports and payments, grant applications and administration, maintaining necessary licenses, financial reporting, general administration (shared with Supply Store Manager), website oversight and administration, landlord relations/rent, filing and record keeping. Good financial and planning management a must. Salary commensurate with experience.
